Brenden Dillon (born November 13, 1990 in Surrey , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League since February 2020 . Previously, the defender played in the NHL for the Dallas Stars (2012-2014) and the San Jose Sharks (2014-2020).
Career
Brenden Dillon began his career as a hockey player in the youth team Hope Icebreakers, for which he was active in the 2006/07 season in the Pacific Junior Hockey League. The defender then played for the Seattle Thunderbirds in Canada's top junior league, Western Hockey League , for four years . On March 1, 2011, he signed a contract as a free agent with the Dallas Stars from the National Hockey League . With their farm team Texas Stars , he finished the 2010/11 season in the American Hockey League . In the 2011/12 season , the Canadian was able to convince with 29 scorer points, including six goals, in 76 AHL games for the Texas Stars, whereupon he came parallel to his NHL debut for the Dallas Stars, but stayed on point in his only appearance. and goalless. In the 2012/13 season , which was shortened due to a lockout , he first played again for the Texas Stars in the AHL, before he was appointed to the NHL squad of the Dallas Stars after the start of the NHL season.
In November 2014, the Dallas Stars gave him up to the San Jose Sharks and in return received Jason Demers and a third-round vote for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft . The Canadian was active in California for almost five years before he was transferred to the Washington Capitals in February 2020 . In return, they sent a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2020 and a conditional third-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2021 to San Jose. In addition, the Sharks continue to pay half of Dillon's salary.
International
At the international level, Dillon represented his home country at the 2013 World Cup in Sweden and Finland . Dillon was used in all eight tournament games of the Canadians and scored one goal. The team took fifth place at the end of the tournament.
