Jonas Siegenthaler (* 6. May 1997 in Zurich ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who, since July 2015, the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League is under contract and in March 2017 their farm team , the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League on the position of the defender plays.
Career
Siegenthaler comes from the offspring of the ZSC Lions , during the 2013/14 season he made his debut for the ZSC in the National League A (NLA) and at the same time gained match practice with the GCK Lions in the National League B (NLB). In the following season he established himself as a regular for the ZSC Lions and was selected in the second round of the National Hockey League (NHL) draft in June 2015 in a total of 57th place by the Washington Capitals . On July 30th of the same year he signed a three-year contract with Capitals. Thanks to a loan agreement, he stayed with the ZSC Lions, with whom he won the Swiss Cup in 2016 before making his debut with Washington's farm team Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League (AHL) in March 2016 . Siegenthaler completed six missions for the Bears by the end of the season.
In October 2016, the Capitals and the ZSC Lions signed another loan agreement for Siegenthalers, which was valid until the end of the 2016/17 season. After leaving the NLA quarter-finals with the ZSC, he returned to the Hershey Bears in mid-March 2017.
Siegenthaler made his debut in the NHL on November 8, 2018 against the Columbus Blue Jackets . He scored his first NHL scorer point on December 14, 2018 against the Carolina Hurricanes when he assisted Alexander Ovetschkin early in the first third of the game.
International
Siegenthaler was a member of the Swiss national team from the U16 age group. In the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships , he was in the All-Star selected team. In February 2017, he was called up for the first time in the senior team, but had to cancel his participation due to an injury.
