After Us the Flood is the first live album by the German punk rock band Die Ärzte . It was released on October 27, 1988 and was the last album before the temporary separation. The album was intended as a parting gift and was released after the farewell tour Die Beste Band der Welt .
background
After us, Die Sintflut was released as a triple 12 "vinyl and double CD as well as double MC and reached number one in the German album charts (as the first triple album ever). It stayed in the German Top 100 for a total of 33 weeks and achieved platinum status .
After the live album, a two-part live video about the tour was released. The live version of Too Late , with a medley of current chart hits as an intro, was released as a single and reached number 25 in the German singles charts.
The first edition of the album was accompanied by the bonus single Der Ritt auf dem Schmetterling . This track was a live version of the indexed piece Geschwisterliebe , in which the band only played the instrumental part and the audience sang the indexed text. The song was included as a bonus single, so that in the event of indexing, the entire album would not have had to be re-pressed, but only the single could have been removed from the packaging. The second edition of the album was no longer included with the ride on the butterfly .
Before Die Doctors played Claudia III , only noted as "Claudia" on the cover, they gave an approx. Two and a half minute speech and talked about the staff of the Federal Testing Agency for Media Harmful to Young People who previously had albums of the doctors on the index for writings harmful to young people had set, including the song Claudia hat 'nen Shepherd .
However, the album was not recorded completely in front of an audience. Since the headset microphone, which Bela B. always used on stage, was too bad to be able to publish his singing, all of Bela B.'s vocal parts were re-recorded by him in the studio. In order to give the recordings in the studio a little live ambience, he sang all the songs through in just one take. In addition, he didn't hear the playback (as is usual in the studio) through headphones, but through loudspeakers that were turned up extra loud.
In the course of the release of the live album, the decision was made to finally release two previously unreleased tracks that were played live on previous tours, but not on this tour ( We're fine and I'm wild ). For this purpose, they resorted to soundcheck recordings that were made during the 88 tour and partially backed them up with live applause so that they could better fit into Nach uns der Sintflut .
