Nadine Ahr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nadine Ahr (* 1982 in Hanover ) is a German investigative journalist and author .

Career

After graduating from the Sophienschule Hanover in 2001 , Ahr studied history , media and political science at the University of Hanover . She then went to Namibia for half a year , where she worked for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation in Windhoek . In 2009/2010 she completed a traineeship at the Evangelical School of Journalism (EJS) in Berlin with a grant from the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Since then she has been writing as a freelance journalist for print media such as Die Zeit , die taz , Die Welt and radio stations such as Bayerischer Rundfunk and rbb Kulturradio . She has been a mentor at the EJS since 2019.

When Medium Magazin voted “ Journalist of the Year 2011 ” , Ahr was ranked sixth in the “ Cultural Journalism ” category .

Her report “Gottes Mühlen”, published in 2012, about the criminal case Lolita Brieger was selected by the jury of the German Reporter Award as one of the twenty best reports of 2012. Her undercover report for Christmas 2012 "Maria and Josef in Neukölln" was listed as one of the top 10 reports of the year by the pre-jury of the Henri Nannen Prize . Ahr's 2018 article “Anton fell on his head. He had to go to the clinic “was chosen by the pre-jury of the Nannen Prize among the top 10 documentaries of the year. At the same time, the research she carried out with a journalist group of the time in the course of the #MeToo debate on the allegations of sexual assault against Dieter Wedel was included in the short list of the Nannen Prize in the "Investigation" category, the articles were awarded the German Reporter Prize and awarded the Lighthouse Prize .

Ahr's multi-award-winning report “Das Verserver”, published in 2011, is based on personal impressions of how their own grandparents cope with their grandmother's dementia . In 2013, she processed the subject into a book that Anja Maier perceived as a “crystal clear and deeply sad” story of “how a couple become desperate opponents. And losers, both of them. And how she experiences it as a granddaughter and realizes that there is nothing she can do except to be there when these two adults bring their love to an end. "

In 2018, Ahr and Christiane Hawranek researched how unmarried pregnant women in Germany were still hidden as " fallen girls " in so-called maternity homes up until the beginning of the 1980s and, after the birth, without supervision by the youth welfare office, the newborns were partly forcibly adopted . From the point of view of the jury of the German Radio Prize 2019, this contribution, published both in Die Zeit and on radio on Bayern 2 , was one of the three outstanding contributions in the category “Best Reportage”.
