Natalie Lumpp (born February 8, 1971 as Natalie Hoffmann in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German sommelier , wine consultant and wine author.

Life

Her father Walter Hoffmann was an opera singer at the Stadttheater Freiburg , her mother Cordula managed the family business Hotel "Adlerburg" in Au near Freiburg . Natalie received ballet and piano lessons from an early age. At the age of 16 she began her gastronomic training, which she completed from 1987 to 1990 in the Hotel "Engel" in Horben .

In her first marriage (1994–1999) Natalie Lumpp was married to the star chef Claus-Peter Lumpp . In 2002 she married the cardiologist Manfred Jaeschke. She lives with him and their son Jonas in Baden-Baden .

Professional background

After her apprenticeship as a hotel manager , she completed various positions as Chef de Rang in leading establishments in the Black Forest such as the “Traube Tonbach” and the “Bareiss” hotel in Mitteltal . From 1992 to 1998 she worked in the “Bareiss” restaurant, first as a sommelier and then as head sommelier. From 1998 to 2000 she managed the "Imperial" restaurant of the Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe in Bühl .

In 2000 she founded her own company “Experience Wine!” In Baden-Baden . With this company she organizes wine seminars and trips and works as a wine consultant and author. She works as a freelancer for numerous wine and gourmet magazines such as Vinum , Sommelier-Magazin, Weinwelt, Der Feinschmecker , essen & beverage , Elle Bistro and Wein Gourmet and writes regular wine columns for the Badische Neuesten Nachrichten , the Pforzheimer Zeitung , the Berliner Zeitung and in the magazine Brigitte . She can also be seen regularly in programs on ARD and ZDF, on PRO7, Sat.1, Vox, n-tv and B-TV. The SWR produced two extensive series with her. Frank Elstner appointed her, alongside Alfred Biolek , Rainer Hunold and sommelier Christina Fischer, to the jury of his twelve-part series Germany's Best Wines, which was broadcast in 2005 as a co-production by HR and SWR.

Natalie Lumpp is a member of the Sommelier Union Germany and Vinissima, a nationwide network on "Women and Wine". Since November 2006, she has also been on the board of trustees of the German Childhood Cancer Follow-up Foundation and since 2001 a member of the “Cercle de L'Ill”. She has also been on the board of the "Chaîne des Rôtisseurs" since 2003, and since 2016 she has held the title "Grand Echanson". Furthermore, Natalie Lumpp has been working as a wine consultant for Aldiana since 2011 and for the "Radio Regenbogen Harald Wohlfahrt Palazzo" in Mannheim since 2012. In addition, she is a member of the jury of the “German Red Wine Prize” of the international wine magazine Vinum (awarded since 1987). Natalie Lumpp has been a wine tester at Gault-Millau since 2017 .
