Natura 2000 stations in Thuringia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The twelve Natura 2000 stations in Thuringia were 2016 and 2017 in Thuringia founded to the Natura 2000 to serve -type regions of the country. Over 212 fauna-flora-habitat areas (FFH areas), 35 FFH bat protection objects and 44 EU bird protection areas are to be looked after. These Natura 2000 areas cover around 270,000 hectares, which corresponds to around 17% of the land area. In these Natura 2000 areas and their buffer zones, it is a matter of implementing conservation and improvement measures.

tasks

The Natura 2000 stations are intended to contribute in particular to the maintenance and restoration of a favorable conservation status of the habitat types and Annex II and IV species of the Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive. The Natura 2000 stations were set up as regional, non-governmental nature conservation institutions and are to work closely with the administration, the affected land users and other local stakeholders. The Natura 2000 stations form an interface between official and voluntary nature conservation. The stations should initiate and implement protection projects, advise land users and other nature conservation actors and carry out initial maintenance measures in Natura 2000 areas and should do active press and public relations work as well as environmental education.

financing

The Thuringian Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation supports the stations with a total of around 1.65 million euros per year. The network of Natura 2000 stations has been anchored in law in the Thuringian law for the reorganization of nature conservation law and is therefore an integral part of nature conservation in Thuringia.
