History, infrastructure and tourism
The area used to be an important climb from Traboch and Sankt Michael (via Jassing ) to Leoben as well as (via Schafbergsattel ) to Trofaiach and, after the start of the iron industry, in particular Donawitz, who was able to shorten the detour through the Murtal or the Vordernberger Tal . The Höhenweg is still preserved as a municipal road on the Niederung (Niederungsweg) , via Bergling (Traidersbergweg) , up from Donawitz-Im Tal (also Traidersbergweg ) and to Sankt Peter (Tanzbergweg) , but the descent from the chapel on the Niederung to Traboch is still there just a walk away.
Today the area is a popular local recreation area, the path over the lowland is a cycle path (LN9, as part of the HerzBergLand tourism association ),
The way to Traboch in the Liesingtal is a marked hiking trail. In addition, the north-south long-distance hiking trail (Austrian long -distance hiking trail 05) leads through the area: from Trabocher See up south, via Kapelle and Bergling, and then eastwards via Rappolt on the Schillerhöhe and the Bauer auf dem Höhe down to the Leoben lime works and to Waasen (around km 100 of the route from Mariazell to Eibiswald).
