Ober-Breidenbach is a district of Romrod in the Vogelsbergkreis in central Hesse .

The village is south of the main town. State road 3070 runs through the village. It connects Ober-Breidenbach with Nieder-Breidenbach and Windhausen . Ober-Breidenbach is the highest district. In 1993 it had a total of 493 inhabitants.

history

The place was probably in 10/11. Settled at the end of the first clearing period in the 19th century. The place Bredenbach is mentioned for the first time in writing in 1266 . The distinction between Ober- and Nieder-Breitenbach was first made in 1397, when the place name Obirn Brydenbach was mentioned. In the Middle Ages, Ober-Breidenbach was a little further west than the actual place today. When the plague spread around this time, it also hit old Ober-Breidenbach. Almost all residents fell ill at that time and died. After the village was exterminated, there was no settlement for a long time. It was not until the end of the Middle Ages that settlers began to gather again in Ober-Breidenbach and to re-establish the village about 300 meters further east. Today there is hardly anything to see of the old Ober-Breidenbach. Except for a few remains of the old wall, the old village has completely disappeared.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Ober-Breidenbach in 1830:

"Oberbreidenbach (L. Bez. Alsfeld) evangel. Parish village; is located in Vogelsberg on the Andreft, 2 St. from Alsfeld, has 92 houses and 500 inhabitants, who are Protestant apart from one Catholic, as well as 1 mill. 3 cattle and grocer's markets are held annually. - The parish church was incorporated into the Blankenheim monastery in 1342, and Heinrich von Ehringshausen was enfeoffed with the parish in 1424 by Count Johann von Ziegenhain. The Blankenheim monastery was near Hersfeld, seems to have died early, and had nuns from the Order of Heil. Augustins. "

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus for Ober-Breidenbach by the Romrod office. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance were transferred to the newly created regional courts in 1821 as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. "Alsfeld Regional Court" was therefore the name of the court of first instance in Alsfeld from 1821 to 1879, today's district court, which was responsible for Ober-Breidenbach.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand-ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts in the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to the Alsfeld district court and the district was assigned to the district of the regional court Pouring . In the Federal Republic of Germany, the superordinate instances are the Regional Court of Giessen, the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice as the last instance.
