The film currently has a 42% rating on Metacritic based on 29 reviews. Cinema describes the “shootouts and martial arts interludes” as worth seeing, but misses “surprising twists” and, in addition to the narrative style, also criticizes the role of Jennifer Lopez, who is “once again the overwhelmed Latina”, as unimaginative. Christoph Petersen von Filmstarts, on the other hand, thinks that Parker is “exciting, rock hard and pleasantly humorless” and gives Lopez a “strong performance”. Petersen sums it up: "In times of over-the-top action blockbusters, Jason Statham's straightforwardness is just right!" The lexicon of international films describes the film as a "crime thriller based on a series of books by Donald E. Westlake alias Richard Stark, who lets a powerful, "cool" underdog compete against a network of criminals and celebrates irony-free, sometimes hard action. "
