About this picture

Parthenstein is a municipality in the Saxon district of Leipzig . The community, founded in 1994 under this new name, consists of the villages of Grethen, Großsteinberg, Klinga and Pomßen. The municipal office is located in Großsteinberg.

Geography and traffic

Parthenstein lies between Naunhofer Forst and Planitzwald, not far from the motorway lakes. The Parthe flows through the districts of Grethen and Pomßen . The surrounding towns are Naunhof 4 km, Trebsen / Mulde 8 km, Brandis 9 km and Grimma 6 km.

The A 14 , which can be reached via the Klinga junction (approx. 2 km), and the Borsdorf – Coswig railway with the Großsteinberg train station run through the municipality .

Community structure

history

Klinga is likely to be the oldest part of the municipality. Pomßen is first mentioned in 1255 and on December 23, 1308 Großsteinberg was first mentioned in a document.
