Paul Schütz (politician)

Paul Schütz (born June 27, 1910 in Tholey ; † August 16, 1990 in Saarbrücken ) was a Saarland politician .

Life

Schütz studied economics in Würzburg, Berlin and Freiburg and graduated in 1936 with a degree in economics. He then did his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. From 1936 he worked in industry. From 1950 to 1955 Schütz was State Commissioner for the reconstruction of the Saarland , after which he took over the office of President of the Savings Banks and Giro Association Saar until 1960 . From 1961 to 1981 he held the office of President of the Saarland State Central Bank .

From 1945 to 1950 Schütz was district administrator in St. Wendel , he was also a member of the Saarland constitutional commission and the first Saarland parliament (1947–1952) as a member of the CVP faction. After the rejection of the European Saar Statute , he was appointed Minister of the Interior and Culture in the transitional cabinet of Heinrich Welsch (1955–1956).

Awards

Schütz has been awarded the Great Cross of Merit (1970) with a star (1977) and shoulder ribbon (1981) .
