Paulnay is located in the Brenne Regional Nature Park (French: Parc naturel régional de la Brenne), about 50 kilometers west-northwest of Châteauroux . Neighboring communities of Paulnay are Cléré-du-Bois in the north and north-west, Murs in the north, Villiers in the east and north-east, Saulnay in the east, Mézières-en-Brenne in the south-east, Saint-Michel-en-Brenne in the south, Azay-le- Ferron in the west and Obterre in the northwest.
