Martizay is a western French community with 952 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Indre in the Region Center-Val de Loire . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Le Blanc and the canton of Le Blanc (until 2015: canton of Tournon-Saint-Martin ). The inhabitants are called Martizéens .

location

Martizay is located about 50 kilometers east-northeast of Poitiers on the Claise River and its tributary Cinq Bondes . Martizay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Azay-le-Ferron in the north and north-east, Saint-Michel-en-Brenne in the east, Lingé in the south-east, Lureuil in the south and Bossay-sur-Claise in the west and north-west.
