from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter and Petra ( Swedish Peter och Petra ) is a fairy tale by Astrid Lindgren .

action

In the first grade of Gustaf Vasa School, the pupils were reading when there was a knock at the door. The teacher asks the student Gunnar to open the door. In front of the door are two little dwarf children named Peter and Petra. The two live with their parents in Vasa Park. Her parents sent her to school so that they could learn something there. Since there are initially no small benches and chairs for the two of them, the two of them sit down on Gunnar's desk. Later a carpenter builds two tiny chairs and desks for the two of them. On the way home, Gunnar accompanies the dwarf children every time. He helps them cross the dangerous and busy road that is on their way home. He also visits the two of them at home and watches them ice skating in Vasa Park. When there are certificates shortly before Christmas, Peter and Petra get really good grades. Before Gunnar stays with his grandparents in Småland, he says goodbye to his new friends. But after the holidays Peter and Petra don't come back to school. One day Gunnar receives a tiny letter in which Peter and Petra tell him how much they like him and that they have moved.

reception

Tonny Hansen from folkeskolen.dk thinks Peter and Petra is a nice book about friendship and being different. The best thing about the story is that nobody ever questions whether Peter and Petra are entitled to go to school.

Roberta Taverna thinks the story is good read for adults and children. The story comes from a time when time flowed at a different speed. The stories of affections, traditions, and this sincere imagination almost made the reader forget the hectic life of the present.

Margareta Sörenson from Expressen praises the illustrations by Kristina Digman. These represent a kind of timeless fantasy; the scenes on the winter ice are particularly beautiful.

Louise Dam Mortensen explains that Peter and Petra is a simple and heartfelt story about friendship.
