nature and environment
Renaturation
The Pleichach, which from 1955 to 1972 had become a "bad cesspool" from the trout stream, was rebuilt in the area of the river km 17.5 to 17.0 in October 2004 by the Würzburg Water Management Office according to ecological criteria. This continued the renaturation that began in 2002 between river km 18.1 and 17.5.
The originally straight and monotonous course was made more structurally structured by branching and changing bed widenings as well as by flatter embankments and smaller bed sills, thus reducing the flow velocity during floods.
fauna
Brown trout , brook loach , gudgeon , hazel , roach , rutte and three-spined stickleback occur in the Pleichach .
Mills
Several mills were operated on the Pleichach: the Klostermühle in Maidbronn, the Veitsmühle, the Schlossmühle and the Grundmühle in Rimpar, the Schäfersmühle (Maimühle) and the Herrenmühle, the Freundsmühle (which produced electricity until the 1970s), the Mühlenhof Daxbaude, the Straubmühle, the Neumühle and the Lindleinsmühle . The Lindleinsmühle was destroyed by Allied bombers during the Second World War during an air raid on Würzburg on March 16, 1945 .
