The 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany was the 22nd season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany . The first run of the brand championship took place on May 1st, 2011 at the Hockenheimring . The season finale was also held there on October 23.

A total of nine races were held in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria this season. The races took place as part of the DTM supporting program . Only the fifth race of the season on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife was held together with the Porsche Carrera World Cup during the 24-hour race .

After achieving the runner-up title last year, Brit Nick Tandy won the championship title this season with 138 points. The ZF Sachs team award was won by the Deutsche Post by tolimit team .

Regulations

The racing cars of the type Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 997) came from the 2010 and 2011 generation. They were powered by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with 450 hp (331 kW) and had a sequential six-speed manual transmission. The weight was set at at least 1,200 kilograms . The standard tire supplier was the French manufacturer Michelin . All slick and rain tires were identical and were not allowed to be preheated or chemically treated. Two fresh slicks were allowed to be used for the front and rear axles on each race weekend. Rain tires were not limited in quantity. The tires were drawn and marked.

Course of a racing weekend

In 2011, nine races were run as circuit races . The distance of a race was around 80 kilometers (≈ 30 minutes). A race weekend consisted of practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the race, the actual race, on Sunday. The qualifying was held in two sections within 40 minutes. The 10 fastest in the first section qualified for section two and thus drove for pole position . The races were started standing.

Rating

There were two ratings: on the one hand the drivers' ranking and on the other hand the ZF Sachs team ranking. For the championship ranking of the drivers, all points collected during the season were added together. There were no deleted results. Guest starters were not eligible to score points. The driver with the most points at the end of the season received the title: "Champion Porsche Carrera Cup Germany 2011" . For the ZF Sachs team ranking, the results of both drivers of a team were added. The first 15 drivers received points in the key 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. No points were awarded to the teams at the Porsche World Cup on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife .
