Röthenbach is a district of the Saxon town of Rodewisch in the Vogtland district . The formerly independent rural community was incorporated into Rodewisch on March 1, 1994.

Geographical location

Röthenbach is located on the southern slope of the Plohnbach valley, between the villages of Wildenau and Plohn and has around 300 inhabitants. The total area is 343 ha.

history

The place "Ratenbach" was mentioned in a document in 1140 and as "Röthenbach" only in 1315. The village church of St. Johannis, built in the 17th century and later expanded, houses a valuable 3-part carved altar by Peter Breuer. The old school was built in 1819. With the establishment of the Lengenfeld court office, jurisdiction went to it. A new school building was built in 1886, which was later used as a community and medical center, among other things (demolished in 2010).

The incorporation to Rodewisch took place in January 1994. To promote the village community, the community center was extensively renovated and rebuilt in the years 2006–2009 at a cost of around 600,000 euros. Now it is home to several associations and can also be rented for family celebrations. The outdoor facilities have been completely redesigned since May 2010. The site now offers a visually appealing ambience. A roofed barbecue area with seating is now to be used by young and old to spend their free time together, trees and hedges have been planted and parking spaces have been set up. Green areas frame the property. The local volunteer fire brigade celebrated its 120th anniversary on the first weekend in June 2010.
