Rainer Blum (born January 18, 1960 in Augsburg ) is a former German ice hockey player .

Career

Rainer Blum played continuously in the ice hockey Bundesliga from 1978 to 1992 . His career began in the youth teams of the Augsburg EV . At the age of 17 he made his debut for the AEV in the first men's team, which then took part in the 2nd Bundesliga . At the end of the season, he made it to the Bundesliga with the men's team.

In 1979 he switched to SB DJK Rosenheim , for whom he scored three points in 46 missions. In 1980 he was signed by the Mannheim ERC , for which he played three seasons and was runner-up in 1983. In 1983 he was brought back by the Rosenheim Sports Association, with whom he was twice German champion1985 and 1989 , and three times runner-up. Blum was one of the top performers within the team at both the Sportbund and MERC. His season with the highest points in the Bundesliga he played in Mannheim in 1981/82, when he scored 34 points scorer in 51 games. In the championship season of the Sportbund Rosenheim 1984/85 Blum was the leading player in the defense and with 15 goals the top scorer of all defenders of the team.

Between 1992 and 1995 he was a member of the squad of the EHC Klostersee , for which he played in the top and first division , before he ended his playing career in 1995.

He is currently the operator of a golf course in Rosenheim and managing director of the online retailer Sales2Friends.com .

International

Rainer Blum represented the Federal Republic of Germany in two world championships for the U20 juniors - 1979 and 1980 . In 1982 he was appointed to the German national team for the first time and took part in the Izvestia Cup in Moscow . In 1985 and 1986 he was a member of the men's world championship squad and played a total of 20 games over the course of the two tournaments. In 1984 the German national team received an invitation for the Canada Cup 1984 and Blum was called up for this tournament. Blum was used in five games and provided one assist in the course of the tournament. Blum completed a total of 68 international matches for Germany.
