The Rajanpur District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Rajanpur .
The district has an area of 12,319 km² and according to the 2017 census 1,995,958 inhabitants. The population density is 162 inhabitants / km². The Saraiki language is spoken by the majority in the district .
The district is known for growing cotton .

The district is located in the south of the Punjab Province, which is in the west of Pakistan. The Indus flows through the district.

history
The district was created in 1982 from parts of Dera Ghazi Khan .
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew at an annual rate of 3.16% and therefore very quickly. Around 17% of the population live in urban regions and around 83% in rural regions. 1,028,015 men, 967,878 women and 65 transgender people live in 262,490 households , which results in a gender ratio of 106.2 men per 100 women, which is a frequent male surplus for Pakistan.
The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age was 38% (women: 25%, men: 51%), making it the lowest in the Punjab Province.
