Ratková (German Ratko or Radkau, Hungarian Rátko , later Ratkó ) is a municipality in central Slovakia south of Revúca .
The municipality is located in the south-eastern foothills of the Slovak Ore Mountains (in the Revúcka vrchovina sub-mountain range ) in the valley of the Turiec River and consists of the main town Ratková and the eastern part of Repištia (German: Ripsdorf ), which was incorporated in 1963 .
The place was first mentioned in writing as Rathko in 1413 and over the centuries has developed into an important market and craft community. In the second half of the 19th century it even became the seat of a district administration, but lost this status with the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1919.
The famous past is reflected today in the main square, the former Protestant school from 1818, the former town hall, the late Gothic Protestant church from the 16th century and the bell tower from the 18th century.
