Raye (* 24. October 1997 as Rachel Keen in London ) is a British R & B - and pop - singer and songwriter .
biography
Rachel Keen was born in Tooting, London. At the age of ten, she began to write her first songs and learn several musical instruments . At the age of 14 she was accepted into the BRIT School , which she dropped out after two years.
In December 2014 she released her debut EP Welcome to the Winter , followed by the first single releases in spring 2015 with Flowers and Alien . In 2015, Olly Alexander, singer of the band Years & Years , became aware of Raye and sent her song Hotbox to the Polydor label , which was soon followed by a record deal.
Raye was involved as a songwriter on the single All Cried Out by British house duo Blonde , released in April 2015, and thus entered the British charts for the first time , where the song rose to number 4. In 2016 she released her second solo EP Second and achieved two European hits as a guest singer with the singles By Your Side by Jonas Blue and in particular You Don't Know Me by Jax Jones at the end of 2016 and from the beginning of 2017, and gained international fame. You Don't Know Me was among the top ten best-selling singles in the UK in 2017.
In May 2018 Raye released their third EP Side Tape .
