Rebecca Alie Romijn (born November 6, 1972 in Berkeley , California ) is an American actress and former model .

Life

Romijn has Dutch roots: Her father Jaap Romijn came from the Netherlands and her American mother Elizabeth Kuizenga also had Dutch ancestors.

After graduating from Berkeley High School, Romijn studied music at the University of California . But she broke off her studies and started modeling. She moved to Paris for two and a half years and posed in front of the camera for Sports Illustrated , Christian Dior and Victoria's Secret , among others . From 1998 to 2000 she hosted the MTV show House of Style .

She was also on the big screen. In 1999 she played herself in Austin Powers - Spy in a secret missionary position. She made her breakthrough in 2000 with her first major role, the shape shifter Mystique , in the successful comic book adaptation X-Men , which she also featured in the sequel X- Men 2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) played. In the prequel X-Men: First Decision , she got a cameo when the young Mystique ( Jennifer Lawrence ) is getting a few years older. In 2002 she played her first leading role in the remake Rollerball and in the same year she took on the leading role in the erotic thriller Femme Fatale . In 2004 she starred again in a Marvel Comics film adaptation called The Punisher .

In 1998 Romijn married the actor John Stamos and took on the double name Rebecca Romijn-Stamos . When the two separated in 2004 and divorced in 2005, she resumed her maiden name. In 2007 she married actor Jerry O'Connell . On December 28, 2008, she became the mother of twins.

From 2007 to 2008, she played alongside Eric Mabius and Vanessa Lynn Williams , a trans woman after sex reassignment in the US television series Alles Betty! . From 2011 to 2013 she had a supporting role in the television series NTSF: SD: SUV :: . In 2013 she starred in the TNT series King & Maxwell alongside Jon Tenney . From 2014 to 2018 she was Eve Baird in the series The Quest .
