NTSF: SD: SUV :: is an American comedy series that started on July 21, 2011 on Adult Swim in the USA and parodies the genre of police, crime and action series . With the broadcast of the last episode on December 13, 2013, the series was put on hold.

action

In a world where dangers lurk everywhere, terrorist threats are part of everyday life and even homeland security does not feel safe, the residents of San Diego only trust the NTSF: SD: SUV :: , the special unit National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport utility vehicle . The group of government agents, however, is completely incompetent, their interrogation methods are questionable, and the cases they are solving are absurd: It is countries like Mexico , Canada and Guam that are carrying out the attacks on the city. The team is led by Kove and consists of Trent Hauser and his partners Alphonse Inuit, Piper Ferguson and Sam Stern, who is responsible for the communication of the NTSF: SD: SUV :: and works with the robot SAM (Sentient Automated Machine) . The team is also supported by laboratory technician Jessie Nichols.

characters

Trent Hauser
The agent heads the NTSF: SD: SUV :: team on a daily basis, but is a product of exhibited incompetence. Despite his exaggerated casualness, he regularly succeeds with a lot of luck, by chance or by the fact that his adversaries are often even more incapable than himself, to avert the dangers that threaten San Diego.
Alphonse Inuit
Alphonse Inuit is originally from the northernmost state of the United States of America and is half Alaskan, half Inuit. His former partner, who was a dog, was murdered in Alaska .
Kove
The easily irritable and always angry boss of the NTSF: SD: SUV :: is a pipe smoker , wears an eye patch and tries daily with her team to protect the city of San Diego and its citizens from terrorist threats. She is in love with Trent, with whom she was previously married twice, but was also divorced twice from him. Kove tries everything to get her ex-husband back. The two have two sons, Jericho and Chirokee, who are both karate masters but who they don't talk about. In addition to being obsessed with Trent, Kove is obsessed with sex, plutonium, and keeping San Diego a second-rate city. Whenever someone compliments her, she turns her head around as fast as lightning and asks "What did you say?"

production

History of origin

When it was announced in December 2010 that Adult Swim had commissioned the original 12-part series, many experts thought the basic idea of the series and the fact that Paul Scheer would work equally as a screenwriter, producer and actor as promising and thought it was time to finally parody the crime series and their offshoots. In October 2011, it was announced that Adult Swim had commissioned a second season of the series and a third season in October 2012.

Cast and dubbing

Producer and screenwriter Paul Scheer cast the lead role of Trent Hauser himself. June Diane Raphael, who slipped into the role of Piper Ferguson, had previously worked with Scheer on the comedy series Human Giant . Kate Mulgrew was approached by Paul Scheer early on, and joined the crew as head of NTSF: SD: SUV :: without knowing the script. Introduced in season 3, Daisy is portrayed by Karen Gillan , best known for Doctor Who . Brandon Johnson, who played Alphonse Inuit in the series, had previously only played minor television roles.

continuation

Paul Scheer stated in an interview in 2014 that the series was on "indefinite time out" and that he was thinking about a comic as a sequel to the series.

reception

Sebastian Meineck from Spiegel Online describes NTSF: SD: SUV :: as “an ingenious parody of US crime series” and compares the series with “classics like Police Squad and Die nackte Kanone , in which Leslie Nielsen played the US crime series Eighties and early nineties parodied. "
