The Reinach Ice Skating Club ( SC Reinach for short ) is a Swiss ice hockey club from Reinach AG , founded in 1981 , which is best known for its women's team , which has belonged to the top division of Swiss women's ice hockey, SWHL A , since the late 1990s . The club's first men's team has been playing in the fourth-class first division since 2017 , the second team in the fifth and sixth-class third division since 2007.

Women

In 1984, the canton's first women's ice hockey club was founded in Aarau , the capital of the canton, under the name "Ladies Ice Hockey Club Aarau". Later this joined the then SC Aarau , but often struggled with little acceptance and ice age.

Before the 1989/90 season, the entire team moved to SC Reinach, where they were integrated into sports, but remained financially independent. In Reinach, the "Albatros" women were able to train regularly once a week from the start. From the 1992/93 season onwards, training could even be expanded to twice a week. As a result, the Reinach women qualified for the newly created performance class B at the end of the 1994/95 season . A year later they made it to performance class A with the championship title in the LKB . Despite internal problems and a change of coach, the women of SC Reinach finished second in their first A season. Also in the 1997/98 season, the team managed to win the runner-up title in the top division. During this time, the women changed their name from “SC Reinach Albatros” to “Reinach women's ice skating club”.

Before the 1998/99 season, several top performers left the club, so that a new team was built. The young, ambitious team improved through the whole season and finished fifth at the end of the season.

In the early 2000s, the women's team won the Swiss ice hockey championship three times in a row (2001, 2002, 2003) .

Men

For the 2017/18 season , a new first men's team was founded at SC Reinach under the name Red Lions Reinach . She started playing in the fourth-class first division (since 2017) and will be playing there in her third season in 2019/20.
