The rice mill
The rice mill

The rice mill is a part of the municipality Mühlhausen in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

location

The rice mill is located in front of the stepped slope to the Upper Palatinate Jura in the Sulztal about one kilometer south of the municipality between the federal highway 299 and the Sulz in a small municipality exclave within the urban area of Berching .

history

The mill was first mentioned in 1430 as part of a contract between the Wolfsteiners Wilhelm and Wigalus and the Duke Johann von Neumarkt around the respective Fraisch area . After the Wolfsteiner died out in 1740 until the end of the Old Kingdom, it belonged to the Upper Hofmark Berngau and, by court, to the Kurpfalz-Baierisches Schultheißenamt Neumarkt.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806) the mill came to the Erasbach tax district and in 1827 to the municipality of the same name in the Beilngries regional court and rent office . In 1830 it was separated from Erasbach again and assigned to the Bachhausen community , which at that time belonged to the Neumarkt district court in the Upper Palatinate . Around 1840, the rice mill was next to Bachhausen, Körnersdorf and temporarily Wiesenheid (dismissed) part of the municipality of Bachhausen in the now Central Franconian district court of Beilngries , most recently in the Upper Palatinate district of Beilngries . When this was dissolved with the regional reform in Bavaria , the mill came to the municipality of Mühlhausen and has been one of 24 districts of this municipality since July 1, 1972.

The mill was equipped with two grinding aisles, an oil and a cutting passage, as reported for 1836; it was one of six mills that powered the Sulz. She owned an overshot mill wheel . As usual, the miller was also an economist. So in 1875 he had three horses and 20 cattle in cattle.

Ecclesiastically, the Catholics living in the Reismühle belonged to the Catholic parish of Pollanten , the Protestants from 1834 to the evangelical parish of Bachhausen. Today the former mill is a farm.
