Resident Evil 6 ( Japanese バ イ オ ハ ザ ー ド 6 , trans. Baiohazādo 6 , Biohazard 6) is the eighth part of the video game series of the same name from Capcom . The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the title were released on October 2, 2012 in Europe and North America and on October 4 in Japan. A demo version of the game was released on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Gold members on September 18, 2012 , with a free member version following a week later. The game was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 29, 2016.

Resident Evil 6 was first officially announced in a trailer on January 19, 2012. The announcement was accompanied by a viral marketing campaign via the nohopeleft.com website . The date of publication was initially planned for November 20, 2012, but this was brought forward to October 2, 2012 with the appearance of a second trailer.
In September 2012 it became known that the first copies of the game Resident Evil 6 appeared in Poznan , Poland . These were not fake versions, but the final version of the game, which was illegally put on the market and should not actually be available in Germany until October 2nd.
In addition to the standard version of the game, there was also a Collector's Edition which, in addition to the game disc in a steel book, contains an art book, a sweatshirt, badges and downloadable content.

The game has four storylines that overlap again and again and only together form a complete and comprehensible story.
- FOS agent Leon S. Kennedy (main character from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 ) is supported by the new character Helena Harper (focus on horror).
- BSAA Alpha Leader Chris Redfield (main character from Resident Evil and Resident Evil 5 ) receives help from comrade Piers Nivans (focus on action).
- Mercenary Jake Muller (son of Albert Wesker) has to work with Sherry Birkin (known from Resident Evil 2 , daughter of William Birkin) (focus on innovation).
- Only after playing through the first three scenarios does the player get access to the scenario with Ada Wong , who has no partner, but answers the last, open questions of the previous scenarios in the story (focus on puzzles). A partner was added after an update.
Leon scenario
Leon S. Kennedy's scenario begins on June 29, 2013 in Tall Oaks, when he finds President Adam Benford, who previously announced to Leon that he wanted to publicize the events in Raccoon City, as an infected zombie . In order not to endanger the life of Helena Harper, who is also present, Leon shoots the infected president. Completely dissolved, Helena takes on the blame, who, as it turns out, is also connected to Ingrid Hunnigan from the Secret Service, just like Leon. To enlighten Leon, Helena asks him to go to the cathedral , as everything would be cleared up there. On the way there, the two of them discover that the entire town of Tall Oaks is zombie-infested. They team up with survivors who want to flee the city, but all but Leon and Helena are killed. The two take a detour to the cathedral, where other survivors hope for help. Leon and Helena solve puzzles to uncover an underground corridor, but a monster appears, which turns all survivors into zombies before it is destroyed by Leon and Helena.
Below the cathedral, Helena searches in panic for her sister Deborah Harper, instead Leon finds an enigmatic VHS video tape with the inscription "Happy Birthday, Ada Wong" on which Ada Wong seems to slip out of a cocoon . When Leon and Helena find the dazed Deborah and try to escape, she mutates in ways never seen before. Ada Wong appears and helps Leon and Helena in the fight against the mutated Deborah, who is ultimately dropped by Helena into the abyss and thus into her death. Helena reveals to Leon and Ada that she infected the President for the safety of her sister Deborah on behalf of National Security Advisor Derek Simmons. Ada, who seems to know more, disappears when she receives a call. Leon and Helena work their way back to the surface and watch Tall Oaks sterilize and completely wipe out. Leon asks Hunnigan to fake his and Helena's deaths and the two travel to China.
On June 30, 2013, Leon and Helena land in China and meet Sherry Birkin, whom Leon already met as a child in Raccoon City, and Jake Muller. Sherry works for Simmons and therefore reveals to Leon a meeting place where Leon hopes to find the culprit Simmons. After a fight against the Sherry and Jake well-known Ustanak, the teams are separated again. When Leon sees Ada again, he runs after him and there is a fight between Leon and Chris Redfield, who tries together with Piers Nivans to kill Ada. While Leon finds Ada innocent and sees Simmons as the root of evil, Chris reveals to him that Ada belongs to Neo Umbrella and is responsible for everything. Ada manages to escape with a stun grenade , but is followed by Chris and Piers, while Leon and Helena meet Simmons, Sherry and Jake shortly afterwards. Sherry gives Leon information to stop the C virus before she escapes with Jake. Leon and Helena pursue the meanwhile infected and constantly mutating Simmons. In the meantime, Leon tells Chris by radio to rescue Jake and Sherry from an underwater base, as this is the only chance to stop the C virus, but Leon also tells Chris that Jake is Wesker's son. Chris agrees and Leon, Helena and Ada can defeat Simmons together. Ada disappears, but leaves Leon and Helena behind an escape helicopter in which there is also evidence of Leon and Helena's innocence in the death of the president. Days later, Leon, Helena and Hunnigan visit the grave of Deborah Harper. Helena, who has already resigned herself to being arrested by Leon, is acquitted because she was blackmailed by Simmons and did not act according to her own will.
Chris scenario
Chris Redfield finds himself in Eastern Europe on June 29, 2013, and almost starts a brawl in a pub while drunk. It is stopped by Piers Nivans intended to refresh his memory again: On December 24, 2012, (following were Chris Redfield as alpha-leader of the BSAA, along with Piers Nivans and other soldiers of the BSAA in Eastern Edonia Estonia English. They hunt Ada in revenge for the deaths of their dead colleagues and to prevent new bio-terrorist attacks. But again Ada manages to infect and thus kill all BSAA agents except for Chris and Piers. The sheer hatred of Ada makes Chris so blind with anger that he even attacks Piers for a short time. When Chris and Piers seem to have finally caught up with Ada, Leon S. Kennedy shows up, who is defending Ada and wants to hold National Security Advisor Simmons responsible. When Ada escapes with a stun grenade, Chris and Piers take up the chase. After a long hunt over an aircraft carrier, they surrounded Ada on one of the decks, but Ada is shot from a helicopter and then plunges herself into the depths. Assuming that Ada is dead, Piers takes a syringe of the C virus into his care. The two try in vain to prevent a rocket launch before Leon assigns them the task of freeing Sherry and Jake, Wesker's son, from an underwater base, since this is the only hope mankind has to stop the C virus.
On the way to the underwater base, Chris reveals to Piers that he would like to quit his service with the BSAA and that he wants Piers to be his successor - saving Jake and Sherry is his last mission. When the two are found, Chris reveals to Jake that it was he who killed his father Albert Wesker a few years ago. Jake furiously wants to shoot Chris in revenge, but just misses Chris' head. When a giant mutant hatches, Chris, Piers, Jake and Sherry fight together before Jake and Sherry escape, but Chris and Piers take up the fight against the mutant. In this unequal fight, Piers' arm is severed. Piers heroically injects himself with the C virus, so that a new arm grows back, but his humanity slowly disappears. Together, Chris and the mutated Piers succeed in defeating the mutant, but when the two want to flee, the badly damaged and mutated Piers pushes Chris into the escape pod and starts it because he is afraid of attacking Chris as a zombie in the capsule. Piers remains in the underwater base, which then explodes after a short time. Only Chris survived, who changed his mind for Piers and the BSAA is still retained.
Jake scenario
Jake Muller meets on 24 December 2012 in Edonia (similar to Estonia , Eng. Estonia ) on Sherry Birkin who needed his blood to save humanity. Jake agrees, but only for $ 50 million. Sherry asks her manager Simmons, who approves the deal. To get to Simmons, they use a helicopter from the BSAA present, with the support of Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans. But during the flight the helicopter is attacked and Jake and Sherry have to make an emergency landing in cold Edonia. They manage to find important data in the snowstorm, but they are both knocked unconscious by the brutal mutant Ustanak on behalf of Ada. Jake and Sherry are detained in China for six months before they can outsmart the security guards and reunite. Together they finally want to see Simmons, but first they meet Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper. When the four of them meet Simmons together, Sherry gives Leon the data, but Jake and Sherry are kidnapped and held captive in an underwater base.
Jake and Sherry are freed by Chris and Piers at the underwater base. When Jake learns that it was Chris who killed his father Albert Wesker, he is determined to kill Chris. When a giant mutant emerges from its cocoon, Jake and Sherry flee as Chris and Piers take care of the mutant. However, the two are stopped by Ustanak on their escape. After killing him once and for all, Jake and Sherry escape. Since feelings developed between the two, Jake only demands fifty dollars for his blood. This saved mankind from the C virus.
Ada scenario
On June 27, 2013, Ada Wong accepted an invitation from her old friend Derek Simmons, but found only six-month-old records. She later meets Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper in Tall Oaks and helps fight Deborah before she finds the videotape "Happy Birthday, Ada Wong". Knowing that it is not her on this tape, Ada concludes that she was cloned by Simmons. Furthermore, the Simmons who contacted Ada so far is this cloned Ada who wants to mislead the real Ada, but she sees through her wrong game and contacts the real Derek Simmons. It turns out that Ada and Simmons were once together and Simmons couldn't get over the breakup, so in his madness he cloned a woman named Carla Radames, who loved him, into an identical Ada imitation . This Carla, who closely resembles Ada but always wears different clothes, was already in Edonia on December 24, 2012 when she wiped out Chris' BSAA unit and had Jake and Sherry captured.
In China, Chris and Piers hunt Ada and, despite changing clothes, do not notice that they are two different Adas. The real Ada also helps Jake and Sherry from the background without her knowledge, but wants to meet her cloned counterpart. When Chris and Piers have encircled the clone Ada on the aircraft carrier and she drops into the depths, the real Ada goes down to her. To Ada's surprise, Carla survived the fall because she took tons of the C virus. Then it mutates into a gigantic slime monster, which Ada can destroy. This then goes to Leon to support him in the fight against Simmons. This leads to a dialogue between the Ada-obsessed Simmons and her, unnoticed by Leon and Helena. In the end, Simmons is destroyed by Leon. Ada goes to Carla's research base. In order to put an end to the whole thing, as well as to prevent that she is held responsible for Carla's crimes, Ada destroyed Carla's entire laboratory with all evidence and research results.
After you have played through all four scenarios, you unlock another cutscene in which Jake is disguised in an oriental country . For just one apple , Jake promises a little boy in return that he will take care of the roaming monsters. Since the achievement is called "See you next time" after the Jake scenario is over, this teaser condenses the signs that Capcom plans to use the character Jake Muller again in a later Resident Evil .
Additional content
On December 18, 2012, three game modes were released: Survive! , Rush and predator . Each of these modes costs € 3.99 on the PlayStation 3 or 320 Microsoft Points on the Xbox. Survival mode ! comes back to the classic deathmatch system. Up to six players can compete against each other in teams or everyone against everyone. The score increases when you damage other players. In mode rush up to two players can play simultaneously. You have to defeat as many monsters as possible to get a high score. Defeated monsters are sent to the opponent. As a creature Ustanak (known from Jake's scenario) you have to defeat the other players in predator mode . When the time is up, all players have been defeated, or you have been defeated yourself, the role of Ustanak changes. Each player becomes Ustanak once before the round is over.

Sales figures
The game was delivered over 4.5 million times, which is a new company record. Capcom forecasts 7 million units sold by the end of March 2013. For comparison: The predecessor Resident Evil 5 has so far been sold 5.8 million times.
Viral Marketing
Capcom opened a butcher shop called "Wesker & Son" on September 29, 2012 in Smithfield Meat Market in London. They sold human limbs modeled from pork and beef. The proceeds went to the British charity Limbless Association, which supports people with missing limbs.
