Richard Loewe , since 1888 of Loewe , (born May 4, 1832 in Merseburg , † April 22, 1896 in Munich ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Prussian captain a. D. Karl Eduard Loewe (1789–1865) and his wife Luise, née Plange (1796–1882).

Military career

Loewe attended secondary schools in Erfurt and Nordhausen . On April 21, 1850, he appeared as a musketeer in the Regiment Infantry 31 of the Prussian army one. There he was promoted to secondary lieutenant by March 1852, and from October 1855 to the end of September 1858 he completed the general war school . As Prime Lieutenant , Loewe was assigned to the Trigonometric Department of the General Staff on August 6, 1859 because of his good mathematical knowledge . On March 4, 1862, when he was promoted to captain, he was transferred to the General Staff. This was followed by assignments in the General Staff of the 7th Division and again in the General Staff. For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the war against Austria , Loewe was active in the general staff of the combined Landwehr-Infantry Division in Bentheim . After the peace treaty he returned to the Great General Staff and became major on October 30, 1866 . As such, Loewe was a teacher at the War Academy for five months from mid-October 1867. Following this he came to Hanover in the General Staff of the 20th Division . On October 21, 1869 Loewe was in the first Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment no. 22 were added and the commander of the Fusilier - battalion in Rastatt appointed. In this capacity he took part in the siege of Paris and the battles at Chevilly and Bruyères during the war against France in 1870/71 . His achievements were honored by being awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

After the Peace of Frankfurt Loewe was born on August 18, 1871 to lieutenant colonel , and on September 2, 1873 Colonel promoted. With his previous uniform and the rank and fees of regimental commander, he was briefly transferred to the army officers on June 9, 1874 and appointed commander of the 5th East Prussian Grenadier Regiment No. 5 in Danzig on July 14, 1874 . He gave this regiment on February 2, 1880 to his successor Lieutenant Colonel Friedrich von Lehmann and was promoted to major general to commander of the 16th Infantry Brigade in Erfurt . As Lieutenant General Loewe was then from November 13, 1884 commander of the 31st division in Strasbourg . In this position he received the star for the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves on September 18, 1886 and the Order of the Crown, 1st Class on May 5, 1888 . With the approval of his resignation request , Loewe was put up for disposal on August 2, 1888 with the statutory pension . At the same time Wilhelm II elevated him to the hereditary Prussian nobility in recognition of his long and good service .

family

Loewe had married the merchant's daughter Antonie Henriette Amande Hasselbach (1838-1880) on October 19, 1861 in Berlin. After her death, he married Doris Karolina Freiin von Branca (1856–1929) in Erlangen on October 14, 1882 . From this marriage there were two children:
