Rockport is a town in Knox County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there lived 3330 inhabitants in 1422 households on an area of 86.35 km².

Geographical location
Rockport is to the east, on the mainland of Knox County on Penobscot Bay on the Atlantic Ocean . There are several lakes in the area of the town. Grassy Pond is to the west , Mirror Lake to the east and Chickawaukie Pond to the south . Other smaller lakes can be found in the area of the town. The 390 m high Ragged Mountain is the highest point in the area of the town.

history
Rockport belonged to the area of Town Camden until it was organized as Town on February 25, 1891 and shares the early history of Camden. Additional areas of Camden were added in 1891 and 1893. The main income of the residents of Rockport was the mining and sale of limestone , which was brought to Washington DC and was used, among other things, to build the Capitol.

The US Highway 1 runs along the shoreline of Rockport in north-south direction. The Maine State Route 17 and Maine State Route 90 intersect in the center of Rockport.
