General Ronald R. Fogleman

Ronald R. Fogleman (born January 27, 1942 in Lewiston , Pennsylvania ) is a former general in the US Air Force , who was most recently Chief of Staff of the Air Force .

Life

After graduating from the Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown in 1959, he began studying at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs , which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in 1963 . He then joined the US Air Force and completed postgraduate studies in military history and political science at Duke University during his military service, completing this in 1971 with a Master of Arts (MA Military History and Political Science).

During his military career he climbed to the General and was on 25 August 1992 to 17 October 1994 commander of the US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) on the Scott Air Force Base , one of the ten joint forces cross Unified Combatant Command of the US Armed Forces , the ensures the worldwide transport of troops by sea, land and air.

Most recently, he was Chief of Staff of the Air Force from October 26, 1994 to September 1, 1997, making him the highest-ranking officer in the US Air Force. He also worked temporarily on the Defense Policy Board, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Air Force Association.

After retiring from active military service, he switched to the private sector and has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Durango Aerospace, Inc. since 1997 and trustee of Miter Corporation since 1998 . He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Alliant Techsystems since 2004 and was also a member of the Boards of Directors of AAR Corporation, Alpha Security Group Corporation and World Air Holdings, Inc. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alliant Techsystems since November 11, 2009.
