Rudolf Jaenisch is primarily concerned with medical research on the mouse model he developed . He is considered a pioneer in the field of transgenetic research. His mouse model made it possible to investigate the causes of a number of diseases using the model and also to study the role of DNA modifications , imprinting and inactivation of the X chromosome in basic research .
