The Southern Black Forest Cycle Path is a 264-kilometer cycle path around the Southern Black Forest Nature Park in Baden-Württemberg (with detours to the Petite Camargue in Alsace and north-west Switzerland near Basel ). The total length of the cycle path is 264 kilometers, the variants are 69 km in length. The route runs mainly on paved or otherwise well-developed agricultural and forestry paths and requires around three to four daily stages. If you take the train from Freiburg im Breisgau to the starting point at 885 meters above sea level , which saves a 25-kilometer route and 500 meters in altitude, the circular route shows hardly any increases in altitude, but mostly goes slightly downhill. In principle, entry is possible anywhere.

The specially signposted path starts in Hinterzarten in the Upper Black Forest and always runs clockwise, first into the Wutach valley via Titisee-Neustadt , Lenzkirch , Bonndorf , Wutach, Stühlingen , Eggingen to Wutöschingen . Here the path flows into the valley of the Upper Rhine and continues along it via Lauchringen , Waldshut-Tiengen , Dogern , Albbruck , Laufenburg (Baden) , Murg , Bad Säckingen , Wehr , Schwörstadt to Rheinfelden (Baden) . From there, a slightly more hilly variant is possible on German territory via the Dinkelberg to Lörrach , Binzen , Rümmingen , Schallbach and Kandern and Schliengen to Bad Bellingen . Otherwise, it continues on the Upper Rhine over the old Rhine bridge in Switzerland to Rheinfelden AG , Kaiseraugst , Pratteln , Muttenz and Birsfelden to Basel . From there the path makes a detour into the French Huningue (Petite Camargue) and over the Dreiländerbrücke back to the German Markgräflerland , starting from Weil am Rhein , via Efringen-Kirchen , Bad Bellingen, Neuenburg am Rhein , Müllheim , Buggingen , Heitersheim , Bad Krozingen , Ehrenkirchen , Pfaffenweiler , Schallstadt and Ehaben to Freiburg im Breisgau . You can cycle or take the train back along the Dreisam valley and through Höllental via Kirchzarten and Oberried back up to the starting point in Hinterzarten.
