Sahagún is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Cordoba in Colombia .

Sahagún is located in the east of Córdoba , about 70 km from Montería . Sahagún has an average temperature of 30 ° C. The municipality borders in the north on Chinú , in the south on Pueblo Nuevo , in the east on the Departamento de Sucre ( La Unión and San Marcos ) and in the west on Ciénaga de Oro .

history

Sahagún was founded in 1776. In 1872 the place became a district of the province of Chinú . With the formation of the Department of Cordoba in 1952, Sahagún became a municipality.

economy

The main industry of Sahagún is agriculture , in particular corn , cassava , rice , bananas , cotton , sorghum , sesame , sugar cane and fruit are grown.

Sports

The Estadio Armando Tuirán is located in Sahagún . In this stadium, the Colombian wore football - first division side Jaguares de Córdoba in Montería its home games in the Copa Colombia in 2017 from.
