Saint-Louis is a French commune on the island of Réunion in the overseas department of the same name , which has existed since 1815 . The inhabitants call themselves Saint-Louisiens .

Saint-Louis is passed by the Route des Tamarins expressway and borders directly on the Indian Ocean and the municipalities of Les Avirons , Cilaos , Entre-Deux , L'Étang-Salé and Saint-Pierre . The municipality marker was divided into the cantons of Saint-Louis-1 , Saint-Louis-2 and Saint-Louis-3 until 2015 , since then the municipality has only been divided into the two cantons of Saint-Louis-1 and Saint-Louis-2. An early mention of the settlement dates back to 1726.
