Sainte-Suzanne is a French commune in the overseas department of Réunion and in its arrondissement Saint-Denis .

geography

The municipality is located on the northeast coast of the island of Réunion on the Indian Ocean and borders the municipalities of Saint-André , Sainte-Marie and Salazie . The river Rivière Saint-Suzanne flows through the municipality, which also plunges 25 meters into a waterfall, the Cascade Niagara , over an edge of the terrain.

history

There is an early mention of the location from 1646. The village of Sainte-Suzanne was founded in 1667 by the then governor of the island in the Indian Ocean , Étienne Regnault .
