Samuel David Koch (* 13. August 1982 in York , Nebraska ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the punters . He plays for the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

college

Koch attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and played college football for their team, the Cornhuskers, from 2006 to 2008 . He had held various positions in high school , but only played as a punter in college.

NFL

He was selected in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round as the 203rd player. Already in his rookie season he was used as the sole punter and, as in the following seasons, he performed consistently well. He not only convinced with his precise punts, but also excelled in various trick plays . For example, in 2010 he threw a 13- yard pass with a fake punt , but he was able to run a two-point conversion and a touchdown .

He also contributed significantly to the victory of the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII. 12 seconds before the end he let himself be tackled on purpose in his own end zone, whereby the San Francisco 49ers achieved a safety , but Koch was then able to kick the ball deep into the opposing half. This made it possible to bring the narrow lead over the laps.

In the summer of 2015 he signed a five-year contract with the Ravens 16.25 million US dollars , which makes him one of the highest-paid punter in the league.

In the 2015 season he was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time ,

Koch holds numerous franchise records, including the one for most punts, the one for the longest punt, and the one for the most interrupted games.
