Tyrode Di'allo Taylor (born on 3. August 1989 in Hampton , Virginia is) a US American football poker players at the position of quarterback . He played college football for Virginia Tech from 2008 to 2011 and was selected in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round. Since 2019 he has been playing for the Los Angeles Chargers in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Early years

As a student at Hampton High School, Taylor also played basketball and athletics in addition to football . He was quarterback for the football team, but was also used as a kick returner and safety . In four seasons he led his team to 34 wins and four defeats, gaining 7,690 yards of space (5,144 yards through passes and 2,546 yards through running game ) and 100 touchdowns . At the end of his high school career, he was listed by Rivals.com as the best dual-threat quarterback and third best quarterback of his year.

Taylor then decided to attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), where he shared time as a rookie with junior quarterback Sean Glennon. Over the course of the season he made for 1,356 yards of space and 11 touchdowns. He was supposed to suspend the 2008 season, but after two match days he was reactivated because the team had problems on the offensive. Then he was starting quarterback for a few games until an injury stopped him and he had to share playing time with Glennon again after mixed performances. In the play-offs, however, Taylor was allowed to play from the start and led his team to a 20-7 win against the Cincinnati Bearcats in the 2009 Orange Bowl .

In his third year of college, he led the Virginia Tech Hokies to a record of nine wins and three losses and second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). In the meantime, they were listed as the fourth best team nationally, but in the end lost two games in a row. As a senior, in 2010, after two narrow defeats at the beginning of the season, he achieved eleven wins in a row and a perfect record of eight wins in eight games against competitors from the ACC. The last time a team had succeeded in this was ten years earlier and with the victory against Florida State in the ACC Championship Game, the Hokies won their fourth ACC title in seven years. Taylor was named ACC Player of the Year and ACC Championship Game MVP .

NFL

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens selected Taylor in the 2011 NFL Draft in the sixth round as the 180th player. Most teams thought he would be used as a wide receiver , but the Ravens saw him as a replacement for their starting quarterback Joe Flacco . His first appearance in the NFL was on December 4, 2011 when he beat the Cleveland Browns . In the next three seasons he did not succeed in ousting Joe Flacco, and he was only used with the Ravens when Flacco was spared. After four years in the NFL with the Ravens, his balance sheet was: 14 short appearances, 18 completed passes for 199 yards and a run-down touchdown.

Buffalo Bills

On March 12, 2015, he signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills , where he prevailed against EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel and was named starting quarterback on August 31 by head coach Rex Ryan . On the first day of the game he led the Bills to a 27-14 win against the Indianapolis Colts and threw for 195 yards and a touchdown. His best game so far came on the fourth game day in the 41-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins , when he brought 21 of 29 pass attempts to the man and scored 277 yards of space and three touchdowns. He set a new Bills franchise record for the most consecutive passes completed without interception when he broke Drew Bledsoe's 2002 record with 222 passes . He also set another Bill's quarterback record this season with 568 yards run. He led the Bills to an 8-8 record that year, making it only the third time since the late 1990s that they had no negative record in two consecutive seasons. Through the Super Bowl participation of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton Taylor also got his first Pro Bowl participation .

Cleveland Browns

On March 9, 2018, the Bills traded Taylor for a third round pick with the Cleveland Browns . After suffering a concussion in the game against the New York Jets (third week) on September 20, 2018 , he lost his position as starter with the Browns to Baker Mayfield .

Los Angeles Chargers

On March 13, 2019, Taylor signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers . This contract brings him 11 million US dollars a. At the Chargers, Taylor will be the substitute behind Philip Rivers . There he meets his former offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn .
