Gentle & Careful was a German radio show moderatedby Olli Schulz and Jan Böhmermann . The program was broadcast every Sunday from September 9, 2012 to April 24, 2016 on Radio Eins , and from May 2014 also on You FM , Bremen Vier , N-Joy and Puls . Apparat multimedia GmbH , the former production company of Robert Skuppin and Volker Wieprecht, was theproducer of Soft & Careful .

On May 15, 2016, the follow-up program under the title Fest & Flauschig started as a podcast on Spotify .

Gentle and Careful was characterized by dialogues between Schulz and Böhmermann. Each issue had a motto (such as “Inner Peace” or “Service Desert Germany”); however, this was often only a secondary topic in their dialogues. Rather, they told themselves and their listeners true or fictitious anecdotes from their private lives, talked about current events, wandered off or exaggerated . In between music was played; the choice of music was made by the moderators or the music editors of the respective broadcaster. The conversation part clearly predominated.

At irregular intervals there were rubrics in the program, often these were developed in previous editions. In “The Big Five” , the two moderators defined their respective top five for a predetermined topic (for example “The big five things you can do while driving” or “The big five imaginable pains”). Other rubrics were e.g. B. “American Nails” (Jan Böhmermann presented self-made nail motifs ) or “The Spiegel TV forecast” , in which Schulz and Böhmermann prophesied the most likely topics of the Spiegel TV magazine on Sunday evening. Schulz and Böhmermann also pretended to have to leave the studio for a short time, whereupon the hand puppets Fidi & Bumsi, spoken by both of them with disguised voices, seized the microphones and conducted their own dialogue.

When Gentle & Careful was still running exclusively on Radio Eins and was broadcast live there, listeners had the opportunity to call the program and talk to Schulz and Böhmermann. The show was later moderated every now and then together with a prominent guest. Were visiting Peter Fox , Bjarne girl , Matthias Brandt , Tom Schilling , Nora Tschirner , Ina Müller and Peter Vajkoczy (chief physician of neurosurgery at the Berlin Charité ).

Charisma

Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz already moderated before Sanft & Sorgfaltig on the same broadcast slot - albeit separately - on Radio Eins. Böhmermann had the show Zwei alten Hasen Tell von Then together with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf , Schulz appeared in the show 16 and Zwei with Joko Winterscheidt . Both programs were broadcast every two weeks and therefore alternated. On September 9, 2012, Olli Schulz represented Klaas Heufer-Umlauf in Two old hands tell of the past , so this can be rated as the first show in the style of the later Gentle & Careful . At the next broadcast two weeks later, the show was renamed Joko & Klaas with Olli & Jan , and from December 9, 2012, the show was finally titled Gentle & Careful .

In the beginning, Gentle & Careful was only shown every two weeks, as programs 16 and 2 continued to be broadcast. From March 2013 the broadcast took place weekly. The program was interrupted every year by a two-month summer break. This then ended with a live broadcast at the “radioeins Parkfest”.

As of May 25, 2014 was soft and carefully over four other national broadcasters aired. In the following the former broadcast dates:

  • Radio Eins ( rbb ): Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Bremen Vier ( Radio Bremen ): Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • N-Joy ( NDR ): Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Pulse ( BR ): Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • You FM ( hr ): Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Until January 2016, Gentle & Careful also ran on Dasding ( SWR ).

The different program lengths resulted from different proportions of music in the individual broadcasters. Since Gentle & Careful was not broadcast everywhere at the same time, a live broadcast was no longer possible. The recording usually happened on the Friday before the broadcast.

Gentle & Careful was also offered as a podcast . In the iTunes podcast charts, Gentle & Careful was regularly at number 1.

End of broadcast

In the course of the Böhmermann affair , the consequences of April 10 and 17, 2016 were canceled. Instead, Radio Eins produced a “solidarity program” in the tipi at the Chancellery . a. The cabaret artists Florian Schröder and Arnulf Rating also expressed their satirical opinion. In the discussion that followed, journalists Ebru Tasdemir ( taz ), Markus Feldenkirchen ( Der Spiegel ), Lorenz Maroldt ( Der Tagesspiegel ) and cartoonist Klaus Staeck had their say. On April 24, 2016, a “Best of” of the year 2016 was broadcast, with Olli Schulz moderating each of the blocks.

One day later, the website of the industry journal horizont.net announced that Schulz and Böhmermann would switch to the Spotify streaming service from mid-May 2016 . This change was confirmed on April 26, 2016. This decision is associated with a higher fee for the two moderators. On May 15, 2016, the follow-up program began as a podcast on Spotify under the name Fest & Flauschig .
