The mountains Sanqing Shan (三清山), also under the name Shaohua Shan is known少华山, is a famous mountain of Taoism .
It is located north of Bingxi (冰 溪镇) in the Chinese province of Jiangxi in the border area of the two districts of Yushan and Dexing in the prefecture -level city of Shangrao . Its three main peaks are called Yujing玉 京 ( 1817 m ), Yuxu玉虚 and Yuhua玉华. The mountains are protected as a national park.
In Daoist works it is referred to as one of the " Seventy- Two Happy Places " (Qishi'er fudi 七 十二 福地).
During the time of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), the Daoist scholar and alchemist Ge Hong (approx. 281-341) practiced self-cultivation here and produced immortality pills ( liandan ).
In 2008, UNESCO recognized the national park as a world natural heritage site under the criterion "exceptional natural phenomenon and beauty", among other things for its granite formations.
