Wulingyuan ( Chinese 武陵源 , Pinyin Wǔlíngyuán ) is a scenic attraction in the Chinese province of Hunan .
The area is known for its tall sandstone pillars, some of which rise up to 200 meters. Wulingyuan is part of Zhangjiajie , a city about 270 km from the provincial capital, Changsha .
Geographical location: 29 ° 16'-29 ° 24'N, 110 ° 22'-110 ° 41'E.
In 1992 the site was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO .
