Sedowo ( Russian Седово , German Charlottenthal, Friedland / Bartenstein district ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg area (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Domnowskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Domnowo (Domnau) ) in Pravdinsk district ( Friedland district (Ostpr. ) ).
Geographical location
Sedowo is located two kilometers southwest of Domnowo (Domnau) on a side road that connects the two present day Rajons capitals and former district towns of Prawdinsk (Friedland) and Bagrationowsk (Prussian Eylau) . Until 1945 Domnau was the next train station and was on the line from Königsberg (today Russian: Kaliningrad) to Anburg (today Polish: Węgorzewo), which is no longer in operation.
history
Before 1945, the small estate village called Charlottenthal at that time, as well as Birkenhof (Russian: Kustaminowa), Domnaushöfchen, Domnauswalde (Galkino) and Powayen, was part of the city of Domnau (Domnowo) and was closely connected to its history. It belonged to 1927 in the district Bartenstein (Ostpr.) Renamed county Friedland in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia .
In 1945 Charlottenthal came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and in 1950 received the name "Sedowo". Even after that, the connection from Sedowo to Domnowo was maintained: until 2009 the place was incorporated into the Domnowski Soviet (Dorfsowjet Domnowo) and since then has been classified as a “settlement” (Russian: possjolok) within the Domnowskoje selskoje due to structural and administrative reform Posselenije (rural municipality Domnovo) in Pravdinsk district .

There was also a close ecclesiastical relationship with Domnau before 1945 and still exists today with Domnowo. Due to its almost exclusively Protestant population, Domnau belonged to the parish of Domnau in the Friedland church district (today in Russian: Prawdinsk) until 1945 , then Bartenstein church (today in Polish: Bartoszyce) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
Today Sedowo is in the catchment area of the newly formed Evangelical Lutheran parish of Domnowo, which in turn is a subsidiary of the Resurrection Church in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) and belongs to the Kaliningrad provost in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELCER).
