The Hahnweide is about two kilometers southwest of Kirchheim unter Teck situated Sonderlandeplatz . The largest European classic car pilot's meeting takes place there every two years. In September 2016, the event was held for the 18th time, after taking a break from the event in 2015.
Between September 13 and 15, 2019, the event was attended by around 70,000 people.
Owners, tenants and operators
The town of Kirchheim unter Teck is the owner of the site.
The leaseholder and operator is the Baden-Württemberg Aviation Association (BWLV). It is usually carried out on the site by the Fliegergruppe Wolf Hirth e. V. (as an association member of the BWLV).
A contract renewed in 1985 between the city of Kirchheim unter Teck and the BWLV regulates the use of the airfield (e.g. restrictions on the number and type of aircraft).
Events
The Hahnweide International Glider Competition has been held annually since 1966 . Every two to three years in September the Hahnweide Oldtimer Aviator Meeting is also held.
Resident associations
In addition to the Fliegergruppe Wolf Hirth, the following eight clubs are based:
- Aviation group Bölkow Nabern
- Sports flying club Ebersbach / Fils
- Fliegergruppe Neckartal / Köngen
- Fliegergruppe Nellingen
- Aviation club Nürtingen
- Aero Club Stuttgart
- Sports Aviation Club Stuttgart
- Wendlingen glider pilot group
In addition, the BWLV operates its powered flight school on the Hahnweide.
Operating restrictions
In the course of converting the Hahnweide glider airfield into a special landing site, the permitted number of aircraft movements with motor-powered aircraft was set at a maximum of 15,000 per year in order to keep the noise pollution for residents within limits. Approaches from foreign motorized aircraft are therefore generally not possible.
