The Kehl-Sundheim airfield is a special airfield near Kehl in the Ortenau district . It is approved for gliders , powered gliders , microlights and powered aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of up to 1250 kilograms.

Events

The Aero-Club Kehl organizes the Kehler Flugtage once a year with aerobatics and model flying shows.

Incidents

  • On May 16, 2004, a Sportavia RS-180 got into an uncontrolled attitude while turning at low altitude and crashed into a field next to the airfield. The pilot and two passengers were killed. Another passenger was seriously injured.
  • On November 18, 2006, flew glider type 13 Schleicher ASK the landing area and collided with trees. The pilot was seriously injured.
  • On May 13, 2007, an Orličan Discus CS glider took off in winch launch . During take-off, the tow rope came loose and during the subsequent outland landing, the aircraft collided with trees and vehicles. The pilot was seriously injured.
