The airfield Walldürn is a German airfield near the city of Walldürn in Baden-Wuerttemberg . It is classified as a commercial airfield and is operated by the Flugsportclub Odenwald e. V. Walldürn / Bau- und Betriebs GmbH Airfield Walldürn operated.

The airfield is located 1.4 nm east of Walldürner city center at a height of 403 meters. The asphalt runway is 820 m long and 20 m wide, and 730 m can be used for take-offs and landings. The orientation of the web is 60 ° / 240 °.

history

After the Flugsportclub Odenwald e. V. was initially able to use the Bundeswehr site for flight operations after it was founded, the new airfield on Waldstettener Strasse was opened up in the early 1960s. As early as 1963, glider operations could be carried out on the site . In 1966, permission for powered flight and aircraft tow was granted. In 1969 the connection to the water, electricity and telephone network could be carried out. In 1970 a gas station was built on the airfield. Construction of the asphalt runway began in 1986 , and a taxiway was also built shortly afterwards . At the same time, the airfield received the status of a commercial airfield and has since been open to air traffic six days a week. The airfield currently has five spacious hangars, a shipyard, a gas station, a glider workshop, a restaurant, a training room and the flight control tower.
