The airfield Aalen-Heidenheim / Elchingen is a German airfield in Aalen in Ostalbkreis .

It is located in the city triangle of Aalen - Nördlingen - Heidenheim an der Brenz on the district of Elchingen , a district of Neresheim .

Directions

The airfield is located 15 km southeast of Aalen and 6 km northwest of Neresheim. It can be reached via the A 7 and L 1064.

use

The airfield has five hangars for 130 motorized and 70 gliders . There is a campsite in the northeast .

The Luftsportring Aalen, located at the Aalen-Heidenheim / Elchingen airfield, is home to glider aerobatic pilots Andrea Fenzau-Lehmann , Martin Hofmann and Lars Lehmann as well as the Barron Hilton Cup winners Gösta Worf, Hans Obermayer and Erwin Ziegler.

Incidents

  • On May 11, 2008, during take-off roll, a Cessna 152 swerved to the left, rolled over an earth wall and then caught fire. The two inmates were able to save themselves unharmed.
  • On June 27, 2012, an AutoGyro Cavalon crashed on the final approach to the airfield above the runway. The pilot was thrown from the aircraft and died at the scene of the accident.
