Selena Gomez & the Scene was an American pop - band . It was founded in 2008 in Hollywood , California and consisted of singer Selena Gomez , guitarist Drew Taubenfeld, bassist Joey Clement, drummer Greg Garman and keyboardist Dane Forrest.
Career
2009–2010: Kiss & Tell
On September 29, 2009 the band released their first studio album Kiss & Tell . In Germany the album was released on April 23, 2010, Naturally was released as the first single. In the US, the single Falling Down was the first to be released.
2010-2011: A Year Without Rain
The second studio album, A Year Without Rain , was released on September 17, 2010. The album reached number 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The first single Round & Round was released on June 18, 2010. The video was filmed in Hungary and first aired on June 20, 2010 on the US television station Disney Channel . The second single A Year Without Rain was on September 3, 2010, after the world premiere of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam , first broadcast on the US Disney Channel. Selena Gomez & the Scene played their single Round & Round live on America's Got Talent , Blue Peter , Daybreak , and MTV's The Seven ; Round & Round and A Year Without Rain in Good Morning America and A Year Without Rain live on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Lopez Tonight . On October 27, 2010 the band gave a benefit concert in collaboration with UNICEF . They also performed at the Jingle Ball on December 5, 2010. The Spanish version of A Year Without Rain came out three months after the English version was released.
2011–2012: When the Sun Goes Down
On February 15, 2011, Universal Music Portugal announced via Facebook that the band's third studio album would be released in June 2011 and the single for the album would be released in March 2011. Selena Gomez later confirmed that the single would be called Who Says . Who Says was played for the first time on March 8, 2011 at 7:35 am on the US radio station KIIS-FM . Selena Gomez was a guest all morning for the world premiere of her single on the morning show On Air with Ryan Seacrest with Ryan Seacrest on the same Los Angeles radio station . The music video for the single was first broadcast on March 11th on the US Disney Channel. The single Who Says was released on April 15, 2011. According to a statement by Selena Gomez in an interview, she dedicates the song to everyone who has ever been bullied or bullied. She was inspired because she has had to endure threats and insults from so-called haters since she was in a relationship with Justin Bieber. On June 17, 2011, the band released their second single Love You Like a Love Song , the accompanying music video was released on June 23, 2011 on Vevo . In September 2011, Gomez announced that the song Hit the Lights , which the band had already played at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 , would be released as the third single in October .
In March 2012 Gomez announced a new album for winter / spring 2013. In November 2012 it was announced that the album would be released in March 2013. The first single is planned for January 2013. But in March 2013 Gomez announced that she and the band The Scene would be taking a hiatus and that they would release a solo album in the summer of 2013.
