Localization of Thuringia in Germany

On the Kulm , the Deutsche Funkturm , a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom , operates a 78.8 meter high transmission tower for VHF and digital television ( DVB-T ). This tower, designed as a free-standing steel lattice tower, was built in 1973/1974. During the GDR era, there was a medium wave transmitter in Saalfeld that broadcast the DT64 program with 1 kW transmission power on the 1602 kHz frequency.

Digital radio ( DAB )

For cost reasons and in preparation for the nationwide restart of DAB + , broadcasting was discontinued on January 4, 2010. DAB was broadcast with other transmitters in vertical polarization and in single-frequency mode.

Digital television ( DVB-T )

The DVB-T broadcasts ran from 1 July 2008 and stayed in the single-frequency operation (Single Frequency Network) with other transmitter sites. They took place until April 24, 2018 according to the table below.
