Sheboygan Red Skins (also Sheboygan Redskins ) was the name of an American basketball franchise from Sheboygan , Wisconsin , which played from 1938 to 1949 in the NBL and in the 1949-1950 season in the NBA . In the 1950-1951 season, the Red Skins moved to the NPBL and then played independently for a year before the team disbanded in 1952.
history
The origins of the team go back to 1933. In 1938, the team under the name Red Skins of the National Basketball League (NBL) and played there from 1938 to 1949. In the 1942-1943 season, the NBL championship against the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons (today: Detroit Pistons ) could be won . When the NBL merged with the NBA in 1949, the Red Skins played in the NBA for one year in the 1949–1950 season before the small team had to give way to larger cities. After leaving the NBA, the team played in the 1950-1951 season for one season in the NPBL. When the NPBL itself was disbanded after only one season, the team played independently before disbanding in 1952.
