Type 33e

The Type 33 is a type of coaster from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .

history

The series was ordered by various shipping companies between 1964 and 1968 and built in 30 units. Initially , the open decks were mainly used in small and medium-sized trips . The few remaining ships of this type can be found today, some of them rebuilt and mostly without loading gear , worldwide in coastal travel. The Rachel Corrie (formerly Carsten ) fell in early June 2010 in the headlines when she in an attempt the coast of Gaza to run from Israeli forces applied was.

technology

Cargo hold with tween deck

The three holds with a grain volume of 2,413 m³ each have an intermediate deck. The hatch sizes are 9.60 meters in length by 6.20 meters in width for hatch 1 and 10.80 meters in length by 8.00 meters in width for hatches 2 and 3. Due to the largely undeveloped shape of the hold with little undercutting , this type of ship is also Can be used in the cellulose or parcel log transport, in which around 400 standards of wood could be stowed. With the exception of the sub-type 33e, which had no loading gear , most ships of the series received three loading booms as standard, each with a load capacity of three tons. Deviating from this, the Gertrud Hauschildt , the only ship of the subtype 33c, had two 3-ton cargo booms and an 8-ton crane arranged amidships .

The subtypes 33c, 33d and 33e, manufactured from 1966 on, have higher superstructures and an additional deck under the bridge . After the completion of the Bell Vanguard, which was also built at Sietas, the sub-type 33e was adapted to the transport of containers, of which it can stow 50 TEU . All ships in the series have a level tank ceiling with a continuous double floor . Steel hatch covers made by McGregor were used. They are driven by four-stroke diesel engines from various manufacturers, which act on a fixed propeller in the majority of ships.
