The Sjunkhatten National Park ( Norwegian Sjunkhatten nasjonalpark , Sami Dávga suoddjimpárkka ) is a Norwegian national park. It belongs to the municipalities of Bodø , Fauske and Sørfold in the province of Nordland . The park covers an area of 418 km² and was founded on February 5, 2010 in order to preserve and protect this large, almost untouched area with its ecosystems and landscapes.
Geography, landscape and geology
The landscape is shaped by the erosion of glaciers, so today's landscape with sharp peaks, rounded mountains, valleys and moraines was created. There are also many rivers and lakes in the park. There are an unusually large number of grottos in the mountains in Sjunkhatten.
Flora and fauna
There are some rare animal and plant species in the park, 18 of which are also on the Red List .

Many farmers use the park as a pasture for their animals. Large herds of sheep and reindeer graze in the park .
