The Jotunheimen National Park ( Norwegian Jotunheimen nasjonalpark ) is a Norwegian national park that belongs to the municipalities Lom , Vågå and Vang in the province of Innlandet and Luster and Årdal in the province of Vestland . The park was founded in 1980 to protect the beautiful, wild, distinctive and largely untouched mountain landscape of the Jotunheimen with its flora and fauna that are worth protecting.

In the west, the national park borders on the Utladalen nature reserve . In Jotunheimen some of the highest mountains in Northern Europe are. Together with the national parks Rondane , Dovre and Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella , the area around the Jotunheimen National Park is known as the Nasjonalparkriket .
